We’re all hotly anticipating the arrival of the new Nissan Z here in the country, but Nissan is already making strides with the new model in quite a number of areas. The brand revealed its Z GT4 race car based on a production-spec unit.
Nissan Motorsports and Customizing Co. Ltd. is responsible for the conversion, and it will be ready to hit the race track by 2023.
“Motorsports for Nissan is an expression of our passion and unrivaled expertise. The Nissan Z continues to maintain its position as an exciting sports car that fascinates drivers with its driving dynamics and flexible powertrain. We are confident that this track-ready GT4-category Nissan Z will be ready to write another chapter in the Nissan Z’s 50-plus-year legacy of speed.”

A standard Z was taken from the production line and turned into GT4-ready race car. Nismo got their hands on the engine and tuned it up, got their hands on the chassis and optimized it, took the suspension and tweaked it, and enhanced the aerodynamics to make it competition-ready.
No official power figures have been stated yet, however, the stock Nissan Z makes 400 horsepower from its 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, and it pulls up to 475 Nm of torque. Because it is tuned by Nismo, however, expect this version of the Z to make even more horsepower and torque.
More specifications and details of the Nissan Z GT4 will be revealed at the 2022 SEMA show in the United States which will happen from November 1 to 4, 2022, and the crazy thing is that this car will be available for sale in the second half of 2023, aimed at professionals and hardcore enthusiasts, it will serve an extreme niche in the market.
Now the bigger question is, when will Nissan Philippines be able to bring in the new Z? Currently, the 370Z is still here, but the model is still relatively early into its product lifecycle in the local context. We’re crossing our fingers that Nissan Philippines actually has plans to launch the Z while it’s still shiny and new, and with a wealth of options in the world in terms of variants, we’re hoping that this can make it onto the brand’s price lists.
