Yet another Honda vehicle joins the 5-star club in the form of this, the 2023 Honda BR-V. The Japanese 7-seater joins the likes of the Honda HR-V, Honda Civic, and Honda City who all have scored top marks for safety in their respective ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) testing.

According to the testing body, the Honda 7-seater was able to get high marks in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), Child Occupant Protection (COP), Safety Assists, and Motorcyclist Safety (MS).

To break down its score, the Honda BR-V was able to get 26.98 out of a possible 32 in the AOP category which is comprised of front impact, side-impact, and head protection tests. For the COP category, the 7-seater was able to get 44.54 points out of a possible 51 excelling in the dynamic tests as well as in the child restraint systems tests.

When it came to the Safest Assists, assessment, the BR-V also did well. For the ASEAN models, it gets anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), and dual front airbags. For extra peace of mind, the BR-V comes with Honda Sensing.

With Honda Sensing available, the 7-seater gets access to features such as autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warning system, forward collision warning system (FCWS), and even a lane-keep assist (LKA). For this reason, the ASEAN NCAP awarded the BR-V a total of 16.50 points out of a maximum of 21.

For motorcycle safety, the Japanese crossover SUV comes with blind-spot detection, automatic high beams, pedestrian protection, and AEB for motorcycles. Something to note, however, is that the BR-V lacks rear visualization for motorcycles which is a contributing factor as to why it was only able to get a respectable 8.10 out of a total of 16 points.

Overall the Honda BR-V was able to get a total of 77.02 out of 100 points for the 2021 to 2025 ASAN NCAP testing. This in turn earns it a 5-star rating with the testing body making it one of the safest 7-seater crossover SUVs you can get on the market today.
