Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has announced a major price increase for several of its models. The reasons given include the weakening Philippine peso and the increasing cost of transport and raw materials.
The models affected are the Vios, Innova, Avanza, Raize, Alphard, Hiace, and Coaster. TMP also recently increased the prices of the Hilux, and reports indicate the brand is also looking to hike the prices of the rest of its lineup, including the Fortuner.

This latest price increase varies from as little as P5,000 for the Vios and Innova to as much as P80,000 for the Alphard and Coaster. We speculate that Toyota is comfortable hiking prices as the market leader in the Philippines. This might incentivize its competitors to enact similar increases to take advantage of a market that’s seemingly in disarray.
