Honda is continuing on its mission to make roads safer for everyone as another car gains a 5-star rating from the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). This new vehicle comes in the form of the Honda HR-V crossover. It was able to score five stars across assessments in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), Child Occupant Protection (COP), Safety Assist, and Motorcyclist Safety (MS). 

For the AOP category, the HR-V was able to score 35 out of a possible 40 points. Meanwhile, for the COP category, it was able to score 17.80 out of 20 points with highlights being put for its performance in the dynamic tests, plus the child restraint and detection systems.

As far as safety features are concerned, the Japanese crossover comes with the Honda Sensing suite of safety technology that was able to give the HR-V a score of 18.57 out of 20 in the criteria for standard safety assists, where effective braking and avoidance, seatbelt reminders, autonomous emergency braking, and advanced safety assist technologies were assessed.

For the Motorcyclist safety assessment, the crossover scored well thanks to its blind spot detection system, rear visualization, headlight, and pedestrian and advanced motorcycle safety technologies. It was able to get a score of 10 out of a possible 20.

In total, the Honda HR-V was able to get a total of 81.38 out of 100 in the 2021 to 2025 ASEAN NCAP tests which qualify the vehicle for a five-star rating. It joins the likes of the Honda City, the Honda Civic, and the Honda CR-V which all have received this prestigious safety rating.
