Kia Philippines is setting the bar high for future electric vehicles to come with the reveal of the Kia EV6 at the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) 2022. The EV6 is the brand’s long-range zero-emissions vehicle that brings 800V ultra-fast charging and distinctive styling to the electric crossover SUV market. It is also the brand’s first car to be based on the company’s dedicated new platform for battery electric vehicles. It was displayed alongside the brand’s other lineup of vehicles which include the Kia Stonic, Kia Soluto, Kia Sorento, and the Kia Carnival.
The Kia EV6 has won many titles and awards including but not limited to 5-Star NCAP rating and the European Car of the Year. However, what thrills us the most besides these victories, is the absolute hospitality and enthusiastic acceptance of the EV6 from our customers all around the world as it gives us a strong signal that we are heading in the right direction. Kia’s vision to become a global leading eco-friendly mobility solution provider is not just our internal target anymore, but an achievable future that is strongly supported by our customers who feel exactly the same way we do about our future and environment and sustainability.

What does the Kia EV6 bring to the table?

Award-winning styling and design
The EV6, as the first dedicated Kia EV, is a showcase of human-centered, progressive design and electrified power. It is a distinctive, impactful design that will define Kia’s future. Notable accolades include the 2022 iF Design Award and 2022 Red Dot Award.
Functionality
Thanks to the design of the brand’s EV platform the interior of the Kia EV6 is versatile and spacious. The interior greatly benefits from the application of Kia’s dedicated Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).
Despite the EV6’s compact exterior dimensions, its 2,900mm wheelbase results in cabin space similar to many midsize SUVs.
Great aerodynamics
With efficiency being the goal for electric vehicles, the Kia EV6 certainly does not fall short in this regard. It was designed in part to realize ultimate aerodynamic performance,
The rear displays a sloping C-pillar with an integrated black glossy insert that appears to extend the window glass. Above this sits a prominent wing-type roof spoiler that channels air downwards towards a raised lower spoiler, which sits atop the car’s unique rear light cluster. This plays a huge role in the EV6’s exceptional 500+km range (based on EPA rating).
Safety is a top priority
The Kia EV6 also comes with class-leading levels of safety and convenience thanks to its enhanced suite of driver assistance systems. The vehicle also comes with Safe Exit Assist which helps drivers avoid collisions with a rear-side vehicle when exiting; Lane Following Assist (LFA) helps center the vehicle in the lane; and Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist (RCCA) will alert drivers about oncoming hazards when backing up.
Long range capabilities
Kia Philippines hasn’t skimped out on features as the EV6 model coming to the Philippines is the GT-Line version. This means that it comes with a high-voltage 77.4kWh battery pack that has a range of more than 500 kilometers on a single charge (based on EPA rating). Torque is also abundant for the vehicle as it comes with 350 Nm of it. Thanks to that torque on demand and the power from the electric motors, the EV6 can rocket from 0 to 100kph in just 7.3 seconds. In terms of horsepower, the electric motors together with the battery pack produce 226hp which is all sent to the rear wheels.
When will the Kia EV6 go on sale?
As the PIMS 2022 event is just a preview for the EV, its sales will officially begin in early 2023. Kia Philippines has yet to release its official specifications just yet, however, it has hinted that the vehicle will have a price point of under P4 million.
The South Korean automaker also adds that the Charging options of the EV6 in the Philippines are as follows: through the Kia In Cable Control Box (ICCB) charger that comes with the vehicle; a home wall-mounted charger that can be purchased and installed by its affiliate, Greenstrum; and the growing number of malls and establishments that offer EV charging stations with Type 2/CCS2 protocol.
