After four years, the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) is coming back for its 8th edition. Originally set for 2020, the biennial PIMS has faced delays in its return due primarily to the COVID-19 pandemic. With all that mostly behind us, PIMS is bringing the country’s biggest brands and manufacturers to showcase the present and future of the local automotive industry. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s set to happen at PIMS 2022.
Who’s going to be there?
According to the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI), 13 of the top automotive brands in the country have agreed to participate in the festivities. There’s also going to be several guest brands to spice up the event. Brands such as Toyota, Honda, Suzuki, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Kia, Isuzu, Geely and more are set to excite event-goers with their respective displays.
What cars will be on display?
This edition of PIMS features the theme “Mobility + Humanity: Innovating for the Common Good.” That could mean brands are gearing up to show us their latest technologies and innovations. We can expect to see a number of hybrid and full electric vehicles (EVs) on display at PIMS 2022.
Nissan, for instance, is likely bringing the Kicks front and center. Its latest crossover equipped with e-POWER technology has been making waves since its launch, and PIMS would be the perfect venue for Nissan to get some publicity. Additionally, the new Nissan Livina will be making its much awaited Philippine debut at the show, sparking excitement for fans of seven-seater MPVs.

The Japanese brand is showcasing Honda CONNECT—essentially a smartphone connectivity platform that’s coming soon to local models. It’s also bringing Honda SENSING models such as the Civic, HR-V, and CR-V. Honda is also launching the HR-V RS into the fold just as it did for Thailand and Indonesia. Lastly, we have a hunch that the all-new seven-seater BR-V will also be previewed at the event.
Suzuki Philippines is also reportedly launching a new hybrid model at PIMS 2022, with a very real possibility of it being the Ertiga Hybrid. This will mark the Japanese marque’s entry into the electrified local car market.

When and where is PIMS 2022?
The 8th Philippine International Motor Show is happening from Thursday, September 15 to Sunday, September 18, 2022 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. Patrons can view all the exciting cars and booths from 10 AM to 8 PM. Tickets will be available at the venue for P200 each, with the first 1,000 people at each event day getting a 50-percent discount.
