After several teaser images as well as a spec sheet release, the 2023 Nissan Kicks is officially on sale in the Philippines. This special occasion also marks the arrival of the brand’s e-power technology in the country making it easier for normal consumers to get into the electric vehicle (EV) lifestyle. The crossover brings a unique set of features to the market as well as a competitive price point that undercuts most of its mainstream competitors.
Exterior
Starting with the exterior, the Nissan Kicks brings with it the brand’s latest iteration of the Double V-motion design language. This is evident in the grille design of the crossover along with its sleek LED headlights for its higher models. It is important to note that the lower variants of the Kicks only come with halogen headlights.
Moving to the side of the Kicks and it gets a strong belt line that is further complimented by black body cladding and a sporty front bumper. The Nissan crossover also rocks a set of 17-inch alloy wheels that are wrapped in 205/55 series tires. At the rear, the vehicle also sports the brand’s familiar design language with wrap-around LED taillights for its higher variants and regular LED headlights for its lower models.

Interior

Inside the 2023 Nissan Kicks comes with a familiar interior layout similar to what you can see in the Nissan Almera and Nissan LEAF. It’s functional yet minimalistic in design with the car controls all easily within reach. It also sports a semi-digital instrument cluster with an analog speedometer. Aside from these features, the Kicks also comes with the brand’s famous zero gravity seats which give you as the driver or as the passenger a very comfortable ride. Automatic climate control is also available with the Nissan crossover making it easier for you to get to your desired cooling level. It also has a flat bottom steering wheel to add a bit of sportiness to your drive and a push start system for added convenience.
Technology and safety
The Nissan Kicks is well equipped when it comes to tech as it sports the brand’s intelligent mobility suite of safety features along with an 8-inch infotainment system for the VE and VL models that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The EL model only gets a standard audio system from the Japanese automaker. It also comes with the brand’s e-Pedal technology that lets you drive the crossover with just one pedal greatly benefiting it with regenerative braking.
For safety, the crossover comes with the brand’s intelligent mobility suite. This gives it access to features such as an intelligent around view monitor, intelligent forward collision warning, intelligent emergency braking, driver attention alert, and hill start assist. This is on top of its standard feature set of six airbags for the top model, and two airbags for the lower variants. The crossover comes with ABS, a vehicle dynamic control system, parking sensors, and a high mount stop lamp all as standard.
Power
Under the hood, the Nissan Kicks comes equipped with a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder gasoline engine, however, this is only used to power its electric drivetrain. The main source of propulsion comes from the car’s electric motor that pushes out 134hp and 280 Nm of torque that is paired with a 2.13 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack that contains 96 cells.
Since its an eclectic motor, users can expect near instantaneous torque when using the vehicle. The Kicks also comes with three driving modes, Eco, Normal, and Sport. Stopping power comes from disc brakes all around and the crossover itself rides on the brand’s V-platform. For its suspension, the Kicks rides on a MacPherson suspension set up at the front and a torsion beam at the rear. For those wondering, the 1.2-liter range extender runs on 91 octane gasoline and the car itself comes with a 41-liter gasoline tank.
Pricing
The Nissan Kicks comes with a special introductory price of P1,309,000 for the EL model, P1,409,000 for the VE model, and P1,609,000 for the VL variant. This gives the Kicks competitive pricing against its hybrid rivals and undercuts them significantly making it all the more compelling buy for those who want to get their hands on an affordable hybrid vehicle today. Do note that the pricing for the Kicks will change after this introductory period ends. So best to get your hands on one to day and reserve with us here at AutoDeal.
