The SUV segment here and globally is a competitive one, knowing this Toyota Thailand has given its locally available model for the SUV a quick update to keep it more competitive against its rivals. Over in the land of smiles, the 2023 Fortuner now drops the two different fascias that it once had for its entry-level and top-of-the-line models. Instead, it comes it now only comes with the face of the Legender or the LTD variant in the Philippines.
The Fortuner G and V variants in Thailand now get similar features that were once only available to the higher-end variant. This means that these models now get access to LED headlights, the unique grille design, and 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels.
On the inside, an auto-dimming rearview mirror has been added along with dual climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities, a powered driver’s seat, and leather upholstery.
Aside from the exterior and interior updates, the 2023 Toyota Fortuner also gets a few safety upgrades as well. Added to the lower variants are blind spot indicators with rear cross-traffic alert, stability control, traction control, and hill start assist. As for the Legender/LTD trim, it remains largely unchanged for the model year along with the GR Sport variant.
There is no word yet from Toyota Philippines if it plans to do the same thing Thailand is doing with the locally available Fortuner. As the Japanese automaker sources its Fortuner units from Indonesia, it’s a waiting game to see what they will do next.

If Indonesia does initiate the change, we could see the Fortuner lineup being overhauled drastically for the Philippine market so it comes with all the same looks. It can also be a game changer for Toyota as many prefer the sportier looks of the LTD versus the updated older look of the G, V, and Q models.
