The Chevrolet Colorado has since disappeared from the local lineup of Chevrolet Philippines. While it is still present in the “other models” tab of the Golden Bowtie brand’s local website, it has since officially stopped selling the popular pickup truck. In other markets, such as its home country of the United States, the pickup nameplate is still going strong as Chevrolet prepares to reveal its most capable version. This new model now comes with plenty of off-road goodies that many will enjoy.
The new Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 was teased via video with the new model being driven across the desert. Aside from its beauty shots, the short teaser video also revealed a reveal date which is set on July 28, 2022. While the entirety of the pickup truck was well hidden with selective cuts, Chevrolet did showcase a bit of what it can do off-road by kicking up some dust with some high-speed off-roading. As the new model carries the ZR2 badge we can assume that it uses the GM GM31XX platform.
The video also showcases that the pickup truck will come with a more rugged exterior. Showcased in the video is a new bull-bar, a new grille, a new set of headlights, and a new set of much more linear DRLs. At the back the new pickup truck also gets the word Chevrolet stickered across the tailgate along with a new sports bar.
While its specifications are still under wraps, its engine options could likely end up with two choices. The first is a 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine, while the second option is the trusty 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel motor. The V6 motor is expected to make around 304hp and 372 Nm of torque, while the diesel engine makes 178hp and 500 Nm of torque. While unconfirmed a third option could be possible for the off-road-ready pickup truck and this comes in the form of a 2.7-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 306hp and 569 Nm of torque.
