Driving skills get worse with age, but that doesn’t mean older folks can’t get behind the wheel at all. To that end, the Suzuki Jimny has gained a new feature tailor-made for elderly drivers. It’s called a “pedal suppression device,” and it works to protect a driver if they unintentionally press the gas pedal. The Jimny can now detect whether the driver pressed the throttle by mistake or not, suppressing acceleration in the case of the former.
In addition, Suzuki’s Jimny updates include more safety features like lane departure warning and collision mitigation. Manual transmission models also get a new idling system. With these new features, the Jimny is safer to drive than ever before. The only question left is when, if ever, Suzuki Philippines equips the local-spec Jimny with these goodies.
