As a quick background, Renault, Nissan, and Mitsubishi announced earlier in 2022 that they would be sharing 80% of their vehicle platforms. This was a move done to cut costs and accelerate their shared plans for electric vehicles.
One of the vehicles that will be using a shared platform will reportedly be the next-generation Mitsubishi ASX. It’s an older nameplate that got a minor facelift several years ago. That being said, the Japanese automaker has finally announced plans for an all-new model to launch soon, utilizing a Renault Platform.
While the crossover was initially teased with just an image, its powerplant options were still unknown. This time, however, Mitsubishi has decided to release its possible engine options. For starters, it will be available with a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that will be available for its entry-level variant as it makes 90 hp. It will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
The second engine option is a 1.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine that makes 140 hp that will come with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Next is its hybrid options, the first of which comes with a 1.6-liter inline-four engine that comes with an electric motor. This powerplant will make around 145 hp and will come with a six-speed automatic transmission.
