Suzuki Celerio Launch Philippines

The new Suzuki Celerio is here for your bigger moments. The new small hatchback is finally here in the Philippines with an all-new design and revisions that make the hatch bigger than it actually is.

Suzuki Philippines launches the new Celerio to the public by tomorrow, May 7, 2022, 3:45 PM. Suzuki touts that its smallest hatchback in the country gets a boost in space along with an overall upgraded package taking into account tech and safety features.

The model serves as one of the major sales drivers in the Suzuki Philippines lineup, and the brand plans to sell between 400 to 500 units of this model per month.

Suzuki Celerio Exterior

The new Celerio features bigger design features compared to its predecessor. The headlights are larger and the grille is now revised for 2022. The rear also gets the same treatment, as Suzuki has enlarged the light units in accordance with its 3D organic sculpted design. The model also gets a new grille that features a mesh pattern with chrome strips meeting in the middle with the Suzuki logo. Underneath the grille is a brand new bumper with a large air intake that is flanked by two fog lamps. The Celerio’s lights are all halogen, reflectors, specifically, for the headlight array.

Chassis-wise the Celerio rolls on 15-inch alloy wheels, and the model rolls on a tall 170mms of ground clearance. The Celerio is extremely compact measuring 3,695 mm, by 1,655 mm, and by 1,555 mm (Length x Width x Height). The wheelbase is also quite short at just 2,435mm.

The Celerio rides on a MacPherson front strut and torsion beam rear. The setup results in a semi-independent suspension system that is par for the course in the segment. Meanwhile, the brakes are disc in the front and drum in the rear, and the model comes with electronic power steering as standard.

Interior

The interior of the new Celerio is revised for the 2022 model year. A new gauge cluster makes an appearance as does a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment screen that comes with WebLink for smartphone pairing and mirroring. The infotainment system also comes with Bluetooth as a standard feature.

As for space, Suzuki states that the model features a widened passenger area with low-profile door cards that allow passengers more room side to side. Otherwise, the model features a revised dashboard with a new design finished in durable black plastic. Luggage space is serviceable at a capacity of 295 liters, but you can fold the rear seats for more space with the 60:40 split rear bench.

Powertrain

Suzuki Celerio Rear Quarter

The biggest change in the Suzuki Celerio was from a CVT to an AGS, otherwise known as the Auto Gear Shift transmission. The change was made in order to make the Celerio more fun to drive while retaining the fuel efficiency of a manual transmission along with the convenience of an automatic transmission. There will still be a manual transmission option available.

Suzuki claims that the Celerio’s engine is one of the most fuel-efficient out in the market today, reaching a figure of 28.25 km/L according to the brand’s AAP testing. It still returns decent performance for its displacement of 1.0-liters, churning out figures of 67 hp and 89 Nm of torque. Suzuki also stated that the Dual Injection System, Friction Reduction Technology, and the Start/Stop system available on all variants, help contribute to the performance and the stellar figures of the Celerio.

While the current generation is all-gasoline only, Suzuki has detailed that the model will come with a hybrid powertrain in the near future, similar to what the brand has done with the mild-hybrid version of the Ertiga launched in India recently.

Safety

As for safety features, the all-new Celerio rides on the brand’s Heartect platform which incorporates several safety design features such as the pedestrian injury mitigation body along with a whole host of electronic features such as an electronic stability program, hill hold control, ABS, rear parking sensors, and finally two SRS airbags for the driver and front passenger.

Pricing and availability

Starting tomorrow, May 7, 2022, and after its public launch happening at 3:45 PM, the Suzuki Celerio will be ready for consumers to buy, there will be two variants available, and the first is the GL MT which comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox and starts at P708,000. The GL AGS, meanwhile, is the top-of-the-line model that comes in at P754,000.

Colors for the model include Speedy Blue Metallic, Glistening Gray Metallic, Fire Red, and Arctic White.
