The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is issuing another extension for driver’s licenses with expiry dates slated for April and May. Due to license expiry dates happening on your birthday, drivers born between these two months don’t need to worry about a late fee when renewing as long as the renewal will happen on or before June 30, 2022.
The memo was announced on the LTO’s Facebook page, stating that the office will give driver’s license, student permit, and conductor’s license holders an extra month to renew their documents in case they expired last April or will expire in May of this year. The LTO has officially announced that licenses that were and are set to expire last and this month get a validity extension.
Licenses that expired in April 2022, can enjoy an extended validity period until June 30, 2022, so in practice, there are two more months added to the clock for people born in April.
Meanwhile, licenses expiring in May 2022, can also enjoy a two-month extension, and their cards are valid all the way up until July 31, 2022. Motorists, however, will still be able to renew their cards even before the expiry date draws near plus the LTO has also designed a new background for the license cards.
This announcement is coming off the back of another one, with the LTO extending the validity for vehicle registrations with plate numbers ending in 4.

On top of that, the office has issued several other extensions in the past be it for licenses or vehicle registrations.
Regardless of the reason for the extension, some motorists can breathe easy for the coming months. Remember that your license will only get a two-month extension, anything past that is subject to late fees when you do eventually renew your license.
