Exterior

One of the first things you will notice on the Veloz compared to its Avanza counterpart that it is still based on is the difference in the front fascia. The Veloz comes with a much flatter and SUV-like look that comes with a massive grille, accents on the cheeks of the bumper, and a sleeker set of LED headlights. The lower bumper has also been changed to fit a sportier look made for the 7-seater.
Moving to the side, there isn’t much of a difference compared to the Avanza as it still carries much of the same body lines. However, there is a new side skirt and a new chrome accent that runs from the front of the vehicle to the back.
Styling at the rear is yet again similar to that of the Avanza. However, the taillights now run the full length of the tailgate to help differentiate it from the regular model. A new rear bumper garnish has also been added to the vehicle for a bit of styling.
Interior and tech
Entering the cabin of the Veloz, you are greeted by a familiar sight as it has a similar layout to the Avanza. Where things differ is with the interior accents found in the Veloz. These accents add a bit more color and light into the cabin and help give it a more premium look over its stablemate. Aside from this, there is the presence of mood lighting a wireless charger, and an electronic handbrake. Its infotainment system is also similar to the Avanza as it also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities and comes in either a 9-inch or 6.9-inch form factor. Aside from this vehicle also comes with a panoramic view monitor for the V variant and a reverse camera for the G variant.
Safety
For safety features, the entry-level G variant has a similar feature set as its Avanza counterpart. However, where things get interesting is with the V variant as it comes with Toyota’s Safety Sense technology. This means that the vehicle now comes with a Pre-Collision System, Automatic High Beams, and Lane Departure Alert. Aside from this it also gets a panoramic view monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, hill start assist control, and six SRS airbags aided by other instinctive driving features like the electronic parking brake with auto hold.
Engine
Under the hood, the Veloz carries the same engine and transmission option as its brother the Avanza. This means that the 7-seater is still powered by a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine that produces 105 hp and 138 Nm of torque. Power is still sent to the front wheels via a CVT. However, Toyota has given the new vehicle three driving modes, these being Normal, Eco, and Sport to liven up its driving.
Pricing
As this is a new 7-seater vehicle for Toyota, it has priced it competitively. The entry-level Veloz 1.5 G CVT starts at P1,185,000, while the range-topping Veloz 1.5 V CVT starts at P1,225,000. As for its color options, there are currently four that you can choose from, these are Dark Red Mica Metallic, Black Metallic 1, Purplish Silver Mica Metallic, and Platinum White Pearl Mica. The new Veloz also comes with a 3 year or 100,000km warranty whichever comes first.
