One of the things car enthusiasts look for in their sporty vehicles is typically a manual transmission. For them, nothing beats the feeling of being in full control of your car and being able to row through the gears yourself. That being said, these transmissions have become a rare sight as their automatic counterparts have eclipsed them in terms of shifting speed and in terms of ease of use.
However, one car company wants to keep its car enthusiasts happy by giving its popular model the Toyota GR Supra a manual transmission. This comes after Toyota’s CEO, Akio Toyoda, released his statement of “No more boring cars” and from the feedback of the brand’s fanbase all asking for a shift it yourself gearbox for the sports car.
The new manual version of the Supra will reportedly feature a new red Supra trunk badge to differentiate it from the automatic models. It will also distinguish the car as having a “highly desirable, pure, and special feature.
In an official press release, the Japanese automaker said that “Toyota Gazoo Racing sports car customers and fans have spoken and we’ve listened. A Toyota GR Supra with an all-new, tailor-made manual transmission is coming soon.” It further continues by stating that the new transmission was developed to meet the demands of driving purists and that it has been designed to offer enthusiasts something that is closer to the Gazzo Racing DNA and will enhance the driving experience.
Toyota has also stated that it will reveal more information in the coming weeks about the upcoming new transmission. Further reports have also stated that the manual Supra could also be making its official launch late in April of this year.

Now the big question on everyone’s mind is, will Toyota Philippines bring in the manual Supra once it becomes available? The local arm of the Japanese automaker has yet to release a statement, however, given that the Supra is being sold locally there is a high chance that the manual gearbox model will come to the country.
