The Nissan Magnite made its ASEAN debut back in 2021 in Indonesia. The new vehicle is the brand’s entry into the more affordable subcompact crossover segment and is currently available in 15 different markets. Following a year of successful sales of 78,000 units being booked in India and another 6,344 units being shipped to the overseas markets, the Japanese automaker is seeking to further expand the reach of the Magnite to other countries.

Nissan plans to further expand sales of the vehicle to other countries such as  Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Brunei, Uganda, Kenya, Seychelles, Mozambique, Zambia, Mauritius, Tanzania, and Malawi. With some of our ASEAN neighbors already getting the vehicle, it’s only a matter of time until the Japanese automaker decides to bring it to the Philippines.

As a bit of a backgrounder, the Nissan Magnite is powered by a 1.0-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine that produces around 100 hp and 160 Nm of torque. It also comes with 205 mm of ground clearance making it one of the higher-riding vehicles available as well. It is also positioned as a tech-packed vehicle as it comes with LED headlights, a 7-inch TFT instrument panel, an 8-inch infotainment system, a push-start system, and a 360-degree camera.

It also comes with a great array of safety features such as dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, Vehicle Dynamics Control, hill start assist, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

While the news of the Nissan Magnite being available in other countries in the ASEAN region is great, Nissan Philippines has yet to release an official statement on the new crossover. If launched locally it could prove to be a hit especially if the Japanese automaker wants to compete with the likes of the upcoming Toyota Raize and the Kia Stonic in terms of pricing for the entry-level crossover segment.
