Exterior
The new 5008 represents Peugeot’s take on a modern SUV. It features the brand’s signature styling, keeping its heritage intact while firmly signaling it’s a vehicle for today’s world. For the 2022 model year, Peugeot armed the 5008 with a redesigned front fascia. It gets a new hood, complete with a frameless grille and a new front bumper design.
At the rear, we see a reconfiguration of Peugeot’s signature three-claw lighting setup with full LED taillights. There are also sequential turn signals finished in a darker style. Completing the exterior’s new looks are stylish 18-inch alloy wheels.
Interior and Technology
Inside is where the 5008 starts to shine, featuring the brand’s i-Cockpit cabin layout. That includes a blacked-out cabin with chrome trim, a massive 12-inch digital driver’s display, and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The compact steering wheel looks elegant, while the chrome accents all around give the 5008 a luxurious feel. Plus, there’s a new onboard wireless charger, keyless entry, remote engine start, powered front seats, an ambient lighting system, and leather-upholstered seats.
More than style, however, Peugeot also equipped the 5008 with a dose of practicality. The SUV still packs three rows of seating, with the middle row getting three individual and fully adjustable seats. The third-row seats are foldable and removable, allowing tons of passenger and cargo flexibility.
As for safety, Peugeot fitted the new 5008 with features like an anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), and stability control. More than that, there’s Peugeot’s Advanced Grip Control for superior traction in any driving condition. It also gets hill start assist, hill descent control, parking sensors, a reverse camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Rounding out the safety features are blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and a driver attention alert function.
Power
In terms of power, the 2022 Peugeot 5008 features a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine, delivering 167 hp at 6,000 RPM and 245 Nm of torque at 4,000 RPM. The front-wheel-drive configuration (FWD) gets power from a six-speed automatic transmission.
Pricing
Interested buyers can now visit their local dealerships to see the 2022 Peugeot 5008. The seven-seater SUV is now available in the Celebes Blue launch color, selling for P2,260,000. More color options are available in other markets, but it’s currently unclear if Peugeot Philippines offers the same locally.
