For the Philippine market, the Chevrolet Colorado has been a discontinued model, however, in other countries, the pickup truck is still alive and kicking and has even received an all-new model. One such country that has received the new version of the pickup truck is the Latin American market specifically Mexico. While it is called the Chevrolet S10 locally, it is essentially the same vehicle but under a different nameplate.
With that being said, this new version of the popular pickup truck takes a familiar form as it was born from a partnership with GM, the mother company of Chevrolet and SAIC Motors. The “new” version of the pickup truck will come in regular, chassis, and double cab versions. It will feature 16-inch alloy wheels with side steps for easy cargo access. Along with these standard features, the higher trim levels will come with a body-colored front fascia, side mirror, and door handles, opposed to the regular black plastics found in the lower trims. A spray bed liner will also be available for the vehicle.
Now, if this new version of the Chevrolet Colorado looks familiar, it is because it looks similar to the locally available Maxus T60. However, it is important to note that this version has been reworked slightly with a couple of changes done to the front of the vehicle as well as to its dashboard. It now comes with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, leather seats, what appears to be automatic air conditioning depending on the variant, and smartphone integration. The new Colorado/S10 also comes with standard features such as ABS with EBD, a reverse camera, and other safety features which are variant-specific.

Under the hood, the Colorado/S10 will be powered by a choice between two 4-cylinder power plants, one will be turbocharged while the other will remain naturally aspirated. Like its predecessor, it will also still be available with a manual or automatic transmission. While the new Chevrolet S10/ Colorado will go on sale in the second quarter of 2022 for the Mexican market, it could soon find its way into the Philippine market. It is important to note that Chevrolet Philippines has yet to release any information on whether it plans to revive the Colorado nameplate locally or if it will bring in the Mexican version of the vehicle.
