GM has teased a new EV in the form of an electrified GMC Sierra Denali. In a short YouTube video titled “Shock and Awe,” the American automaker gave us a preview of the new all-electric pickup truck’s front end. Upon release, it could rival the likes of the upcoming Ford F-150 Lightning and Chevrolet Silverado EV.
The tease is similar to how GM unveiled the Hummer EV, and it works. We get a glimpse of how the truck will look like, including how it ditches the radiator grille. In this case, the pickup keeps the grille’s silhouette but adds a massive GMC logo at the front, surrounded by seamless LED lighting.
At the sides, there are inverted L-shaped headlights that catch the eye. It seems GM is adding an illuminated charging indicator to the truck, not unlike the Hummer EV. The company has not shared further details, but we do know that this full-size pickup will only be available with the Denali trim level.
The GMC Sierra Denali EV runs on GM’s Ultium EV battery platform, something it shares with Chevrolet, Buick, and Cadillac. GM is looking to assemble the vehicle at its Factory Zero in Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan. We’ll get our first full look at the truck sometime next year. However, the model might not enter production until 2023.

The Sierra is reportedly one of GMC’s most popular trucks. Its sales increased by 40 percent year over year during the second half of 2021. Will the GMC Sierra Denali EV find its way to the Philippines? Chances are slim, as the brand is not currently in the local market. If you want to get this full-size electric pickup truck down the line, you’ll have to import it directly, which would likely cost you an arm and a leg.
