It’s no secret that Mitsubishi likes black. Last month, the Japanese automaker released the Xpander Black Series, a blacked-out take on the wildly popular 7-seater MPV. Now, Mitsubishi is doing the same with the Strada Athlete pickup truck.
The new Jet Black Mica color option brings attention to the truck’s ornate design. The front fascia shines here, as it looks bolder and rougher around the edges with black trim. This look is further achieved with the blacked-out front bumper and rear spoiler, which do much to elevate the Strada’s physical features.
At the sides, there are exclusive decals to let people know just what you have in tow. The Strada Athlete Black Series also gets neat exterior additions like black side mirror turn lamps, a black styling bar, and special 18-inch alloy wheels.
On the inside, Mitsubishi took a slightly different approach. It gave the Black Series an orange leather interior with black accents. A black leather interior would have been nice to see here, but orange could work equally well to contrast all the black on the outside.

It’s not all looks, however. The Strada Black Series also comes with the latest active safety technology. Available features include Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS), Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist (BSW with LCA), and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA).
Other standard features include Mitsubishi Active Stability and Traction Control (M-ASTC), Trailer Stability Assist, Hill Descent Control, and Hill Start Assist.
Despite its elegant blacked-out look, the Mitsubishi Strada Athlete Black Series remains a capable hauler and off-roader. After all, it still packs the same 2.4-liter MIVEC turbo diesel engine that delivers up to 179 hp and 430 Nm of torque.
The 2022 Mitsubishi Strada Athlete Black Series is available now at a starting price of P1,764,000 for the 4×4 variant. Interested customers can head to their nearest dealer to know more about the truck.
