Kia has officially unveiled its newest model in the form of the 2022 Kia Niro. This all-new crossover has made its debut at the Seoul Mobility Show and features the brand’s new “Opposites United” design philosophy which gives the vehicle a bolder look than its first generation. It also takes its design cues from the 2019 HabaNiro concept vehicle and features the brand’s new wide “tiger nose” grille design.
With its new look, the new “tiger nose” design now extends from the hood to the fenders of the vehicle. It also gets a new set of “heartbeat” LED daytime running lights. At the rear, the crossover also gets a new accent panel paired with long and sharp tail lights.
On the inside, the Niro has been completely revised for its latest iteration. It now comes with a new dashboard design similar to that of the Kia EV6 and features dual screens that are divided into two segments. The first segment is used as the gauge cluster of the vehicle that displays all the needed information that then extends to the other segment which is positioned more diagonally and is the multimedia system of the crossover. Right below its dashboard, the Kia Niro comes with a floating center console with glossy black accents and an electronic gear shift wheel.
As for the materials used, Kia has chosen to go with a more renewable source of materials as the headliner uses recycled wallpaper while the seats are made from organic polyurethane and textile fiber made from eucalyptus leaves. The new Niro also gets a new driving mode that switches the vehicle from hybrid mode to all-electric at the push of a button.
Kia has yet to reveal the engine options for the 2022 Kia Nitro, however, what has been confirmed is that the crossover will be made available as an EV, Hybrid, and as a plug-in hybrid model. The vehicle is currently being displayed at the Seoul Mobility Show and will remain on display until December 5, 2021.
