The initial launch of the Ford F-150 brought the brand to its knees with a lot of reservations and an immense amount of interest for the full-size pickup. The initial complaint of many was the fact that the pickup didn’t come with a diesel motor, even if it already does for some select markets. It seems that Ford was keen on the inputs that customers wanted for its halo pickup, so much so that it’s given the nameplate a new powertrain and a new look to boot.
With the gasoline engine, the F-150 was a hulking mammoth of a vehicle, able to pull huge amounts of weight, and get up to speed lightning fast. A lot of people loved the EcoBoost V6, but it seems that even the mightiest of nameplates feel the sting of a fuel price hike every now and then.
So it seems that the best solution to the dilemma is to simply fit the V6 PowerStroke Diesel motor in the F-150 body and call it a day right? Well, not exactly.

Exterior

So there are some very notable changes with the new F-150 diesel in comparison to the gas-powered version. The headlights, grille, and fog lamps are updated for the 2022 model year, and the truck appears more utilitarian than either the Platinum trim or the Lariat trim of the EcoBoost F-150s. You still get the same tow hooks in the front and even a trailer attachment at the rear, which both are a must for hardcore haulers.

The Lariat package incorporates a dark-colored grille along with Lariat and sport badges all around the truck. This massive rig also rolls on 20-inch alloy wheels finished in a handsome gunmetal gray finish. The entire lighting system also consists of nothing but LEDs as well as an array of LED spotlights, security approach lamps, and even LED cargo box lighting.
Speaking of the cargo area, Ford took it upon themselves to spec out the F-150 diesel with a power tailgate because we all know that a tailgate of this size will be a chore to lift.
Interior

The biggest surprise is inside because this new model is even more luxurious than the line-topping F-150 Platinum. The seats are finished in leather, are ventilated and heated, plus there is a wide panoramic moonroof that makes the cabin feel even more expansive.

All the party tricks are up front, however. You get outlets for charging almost anything from phones to actual laptops, and on top of that, you get a 12-inch TFT gauge cluster that is paired with yet another 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The neatest part of the interior would have to be the stowable gear lever. With a push of a button, it rises. Pressing the same button again will make it stow into the center console of the cabin. Apart from that, other convenience features include: Remote Keyless Entry System, Accessory delay for power features, Dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control, and Power-adjustable pedals with memory feature.
Tech and Safety Features

With the 12-inch infotainment screen, you’re treated to a truckload of screen real estate. Ford’s SYNC 4 system allows you to pair seamlessly with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Audio is provided by a set of Bang and Olufsen speakers. The set consists of 8 speakers that promise great levels of clarity and bass.
On the note of safety, the all-new F-150 comes with Ford Co-Pilot 360 2.0, Ford’s most up-to-date safety suite of technologies composed of Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Keeping System (LKS), Auto-High Beam headlamps, Reverse Sensing System, Reverse Brake Assist, and Post-Collision Braking.
To add, the all-new F-150 is also equipped with Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Lane Centering and Speed Sign Recognition and Evasive Steering Assist under Ford Co-Pilot 360 Assist TM 2.0. For added convenience, a 360-Degree Camera is standard and now comes with Active Park Assist TM 2.0.
Pricing and availability
The F-150 is available for P3,398,000 starting November 26, 2021. However, the biggest truck in the lineup looks like it has amassed a lot of demand from interested parties. According to some dealers, they’ve sold up to 70 units already and counting. There are still units available, but act fast as advised by one of our dealer partners.
