Geely is on a mission to become one of the premier automakers in the world. At least, that’s what the company’s recent moves seem to indicate. When Geely bought Volvo over a decade ago, not many people thought it would lead to the former becoming a rising superstar in the industry.
In our market, with models like the Coolray, Azkarra, and Okavango, Geely has quickly made a name for itself as a youthful and aggressive company that makes quality vehicles.
Now, Geely looks committed to not only producing great cars today but also in the future. Most people know that the auto industry as a whole is steering away from internal combustion engines. The pivot to electric vehicles (EVs) is in full swing, and Geely could have more to offer sooner than we think. A report from China claims that the automaker is preparing to spin off another company, this time an electric pickup truck division.
The new company will reportedly be an offshoot of Geely’s commercial arm, Farizon. It could be good news, as Farizon has prior experience with building pickup trucks. Its lone model thus far, the FX, is basically an Azkarra with a truck bed.
It’s exactly the kind of quirkiness we’ve come to expect from Geely, but to build an all-electric truck to rival the likes of the Rivian R1T and Tesla Cybertruck, the company would have to be more creative.

Further details are sparse as of now, but we know that Geely has grand plans for the years ahead. Most recently, it announced its intentions to sell 3.65 million vehicles by 2025. That’s an insane figure, but we know better than to doubt the company.
After all, its rapid global expansion has caught the attention of many spectators around the world. Geely is also preparing to take Volvo public with an estimated $20 billion initial public offering (IPO) valuation, so that’s another thing to watch.
