Ford Philippines has announced that a new top-of-the-line Mustang variant has just been added to its lineup of vehicles in the form of the Shelby GT500. The official introduction of the performance-oriented model marks the arrival of the renowned performance icon to Philippine shores.
The new Shelby GT500 variant of the Ford Mustang, boasts a new race-inspired aesthetic design, a more powerful engine, as well as advanced technology that help take the Mustang Shelby legacy to the next level.

Exterior
On the outside, the Shelby GT500 takes the typical Mustang style to the next level as it now features LED headlights with signature lighting, LED taillamps with sequential tr-bar turn signals, a unique hood design with self-centering hood pits, an upgraded front fascia, new fenders, grille, and a front split. On top of this, the performance vehicle also comes with, vinyl over-the-top racing springs, a rear diffuser, a rear spoiler, and a larger front radiator block-off plate. This variant of the Mustang also sports 20×10-inch high-gloss black-painted aluminum wheels paired with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. The Shelby GT500 also comes with large SHW brake rotors that are paired with Brembo front and rear calipers.
Interior
Moving into the new model, the cabin retains much of the same layout as the regular version of the Mustang. However, Ford has added new features to help separate this performance model from the rest of the lineup. These new additions include a rotary gear shift dial, Shelby exclusive aluminum instrument panel trim, Recaro leather-trimmed with Miko suede seats, 4-way manual adjustability and 2-way adjustability for the passenger seat, leather Alcantara wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters, and Ford Performance aluminum scuff plates.
Tech
Aside from its new looks and additions to the interior, the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 also comes with a load of new technology. For a smarter ride experience, Ford has made the performance car available with Track apps that are located in the instrument cluster that provides performance metrics for the vehicle. Aside from this, the Apps let you record and monitor your acceleration times and lap times as well.
This performance variant of the Mustang also comes with a good number of creature comforts as it still has dual-zone automatic temperature control, intelligent access with a push-button start, illuminated visor mirror, power windows with global open and front one touch-up/down function, remote start system, and an electric parking brake.
The Shelby GT500 also comes with a 12-inch LCD digital instrument cluster that features MyColor, and SYNC3 with enhanced voice recognition. It also has an 8-inch capacitive center touchscreen with swipe capability that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The new Mustang also offers greater safety whether it be on the track or the road as it has Advanced Trac technology with electronic stability control, seat belt reminders, and an individual tire pressure monitoring system. It also has a personal safety system that has dual-stage front airbags, knee airbags, front-seat side airbags, and side curtain airbags.
Power and performance
Arguably the best part of this new variant of the Ford Mustang is the performance that it brings to the table. Under the hood, the Shelby GT500 packs a 5.2-liter supercharged cross-plane crank V8 that produces 760 hp and 847 Nm torque. It sends power to the rear wheels via a 7-speed Tremec dual-clutch transmission for higher acceleration, responsiveness, and performance.
Aside from this the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 also offers a series of performance-enhancing features such as:
- Magneride Dampening System
- 3.73 Torsen limited-slip rear differential
- Brembo brake calipers
- Magnesium tower-to-tower brace
- Electronic line-lock with launch control
- MacPherson strut with stabilizer bar front suspension and Independent integral link with stabilizer bar rear suspension.
- Selectable drive modes
- Active valve performance exhaust system
The new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is now available at all Ford dealerships nationwide and comes with a price tag of P7,760,000. It can be had with 11 color options namely, Antimatter Blue, Carbonized Gray, Grabber Yellow, Oxford White, Shadow Black, Velocity Blue, Race Red,
Twister Orange, Iconic Silver, Rapid Red, and Performance Blue. It is important to note that for the Twister Orange color there is an additional P15,000 added to the cost of the vehicle for this specific paint job.
