Toyota Motor Philippines has added the Corolla Altis GR-S to its ever-expanding Gazoo Racing Sport lineup. The race-inspired compact sedan first debuted in Thailand back in January, where Toyota showcased its updated looks and unchanged engine.
The Corolla Altis GR-S gains a new front grille and bumper with a gloss black styling and a honeycomb-pattern insert. The side mirrors also get the same gloss black treatment. On each side, heavily sculpted side skirts flank 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels. The rear gets a bumper with an integrated diffuser, while a Gazoo Racing badge finishes the updated exterior look.

Toyota continues the GR-S theme inside, as the interior gets leather and suede seats with red stitching. Also donning red stitching are the steering wheel and center armrest, with the door handles gaining red accents. There’s also a new floating eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You still get the same standard features here, including smart keyless entry, a push-to-start button, and automatic climate control, among other features. Notably, this release includes Toyota Safety Sense, the brand’s suite of driver-assist active safety features.
Under the hood, the Corolla Altis GR-S packs the same engine as the most expensive non-hybrid model. The gasoline power plant delivers 121 hp at 6,000 RPM and 153 Nm of torque. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) sends power to the front wheels.
The 2022 Toyota Corolla Altis GR-S is now in the Philippines, retailing for P1,302,000. That’s a P80,000 premium over the top-spec, non-hybrid Corolla Altis. The White Pearl paint option also sets buyers back an additional P15,000 for a P1,317,000 sticker price.
The new Corolla Altis GR-S represents Toyota’s latest effort to furnish most of its lineup with Gazoo Racing styling, as previous launches already include vehicles like the Fortuner, Vios, Corolla Cross, and more. Toyota is likely not done with the GR-S branding as it will likely continue pushing out newer models in the future.
